Omega-3 fatty acid rich foods and their benefits
There are two types of fatty acids, namely essential and non-essential fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids are the essential fatty acids, which are not synthesised in the body, but obtained through diet. Our body requires these essential fatty acids to maintain a good health. Omega-3 fatty acids have lots of health benefits, such as lowering of LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol) and effective in the treatment of arthritis, skin problems, heart diseases, stroke, diabetes, obesity, osteoporosis, depression, asthma and cancer. These Omega-3 fatty acids are rich in foods, such as sea foods (oysters, fishes, shellfish, etc.), flaxseeds, walnuts, eggs, pumpkin seeds, canola oil and marine micro-algae.
