Sinuses are hollow cavities formed at the bones behind the face. Sinus is an infection that is caused by bacteria, fungi or viruses that are present in the hollow cavity of bones. It may also occur due to some allergens and pollutants from the environment. Sinus problem can be identified from the symptoms, such as tooth ache in the upper jaw, cough that is worst at night time, ear pain, head ache, fever, facial pressure and pain. Easy treatments that give relief from sinuses include drinking of water and juice (fluid drinks) to reduce swelling, and taking rest to trigger the immune system to treat inflammation and recover fast. Activities, such as applying warm compress to the face and nose will relieve one from pain and give an easy feel. Rinsing out nasal passages regularly with sterile water and keeping the head position elevated while sleeping would reduce congestion and make the sinuses drain.
