Cissus quadrangularis as a curative
Cissus quadrangularis (Linn.) commonly known as Perandai in Tamil has enormous active compounds which make it a dietary medicine. It helps us in reducing excess weight. It has the capability to heal fracture for which its high calcium content is evidence. The phytochemical composition of C. quadrangularis is the secret behind its versatile curative behaviour. A very flexible growing Perandai in your backyard or any garden is a package of replacement of your pharmaceutical drugs. According to studies, C. quadrangularis extract (CQE) has been found to reverse the effect of aspirin administration, which induces mucosal damage at both cellular and subcellular level in experimental rats. Oxidative cell damage and apoptosis are also prevented by CQE. C. quandragularis is being used in ayurvedic formulations like Flexi-Muv oil (anti-inflammatory and anti-arthritic), Boneforte capsule (calcium supplement), Laksha Gogglu (analgesic and anti-inflammatory), etc. Hence, including C. quadrangularis in diet promises a healthy body.
