Green tea and its benefits towards diseases

Green tea polyphenols are found to be of considerable attention as a result of their potential therapeutics in the prevention of cancers, cardiovascular diseases and neurodegenerative diseases. A study published by Asim et al. in July 2013 in the Journal of Proceedings of the Nutrition Society has revealed the fact of green tea polyphenols showing reduced reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels in the oral cavity individual within 10 minutes of exposure. Analysis indicated that, only EGCG and ECG were absorbed by the buccal mucosal cells. This study could open new ideas in oral mucosa treatment and management.
