Solar roads exceeding expectations with energy generation

Netherlands brought the idea of solar roadways into practice with glass-coated solar panels installed on bike path. This energy-harvesting bike path on its six months trial period has proved to exceed the expections in generating energy of 3000 kWh with just 70-metre test bike path, which is sufficient to power a small household with electricity for a year. In addition to energy generation, the solar roads could provide lighting opportunities too. The scientists believe that, the potential will be huge if all the roads are covered in a similar fashion.
