Synthesis method of morphine from opium poppies

Most of the analgesics used as painkillers are often derived from natural, synthetic and semisynthetic sources. The researcher from University of Calgary found the gene responsible for the synthesis of morphine from opium poppies. This finding would lead to the development of an alternative method of microbial synthesis.
