Cyanobacteria as photosynthetic biocatalyst

Cyanobacteria as photosynthetic biocatalyst

Researchers at Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) have succeeded in manufacturing many biocatalysts. Cyanobacteria have a great potential for the mass production of biofuels than algae. This important research paves the path for future energy source that could produce very high concentrations of oily components within the cells and can operate without high consumption of nutrients. Also, cyanobacteria do not require costly freshwater for their growth, which in turn could benefit our global environment.
