A smart technique to strengthen the carbon fibres

Carbon fibres are widely used in many applications, such as aerospace, automotive etc. A new method has been developed by the Georgia Tech School of Materials Science and Engineering by improving the gel-spinning technique to process the polyacrylonitrile co-polymer, which is used extensively to improve the strength and modulus of carbon fibres. This finding could be a key pathway for developing a technique in a wider range in the coming decades.
