Emergence of graphene in cancer treatment

Emergence of graphene in cancer treatment

Chemotherapy is usually performed with intravenous catheters which carry the medicine to the patient. The catheter that is attached with the medical equipment is treated with a silver coating that has antibacterial activity. This can break down the chemotherapeutic drug during treatment. Researchers have found a wide possibility of graphene to be used as a drug carrier for intracellular delivery of anticancer drugs in chemotherapy. This finding could be helpful in making chemotherapy more effective in future.
